So I am selling some high value items to support my tool collection obsession. One of them is/was a very expensive anamorphic lens converter. Chap pops up in the US with an offer but then says it's for his "brother" in Paris. Both accounts are dated today with zero feedback.
Alarm bells are ringing!
But it's an unusual name and a self proclaimed filmmaker. So I look him up on FaceBook and he is in fact real. We have a quick chat and I explain the problem with his eBay status but without going into detail. The detail I will share with you chaps is that a zero feedback account will have no warning flags because there have been no transactions. So a buyer could claim the item was not sent/not received/not as described/not <whatever> and eBay/PayPal will AUTOMATICALLY decide in their favour against the seller!
I asked on FaceBook messenger if he was planning a trip to London and he says he has friends here who are travelling back to Paris. OK I says, lets do a cash deal face to face with your friend.
Fingers crossed, watch this space next week for the happy ending...
