I have another question. Im butt welding some aluminium pipe and the arc seems to only want to make a pool on one side. By the time I get the pool to start on the other side and start to add filler, the side that pooled first has started to wick away. Gap is about .6mm, 3mm wall thickness and I grounded both sides. How do start off the weld cleanly?
Why? I’ve only ever welded aluminium with a tig welder, I’ve never really had the need to weld steel with one.Welding wise, I think you are trying to run before you can walk! I would get very good at welding steel first before even trying ally though you look to be quite good already.
Try it without the brake cleaner and a little more currentbut I seem to be getting soot,
