Aldi have digital calipers on sale from today (sunday) for £7.99 3yr g'tee and look great value at the price. My Aldi had loads of them in. Regards Andy
Why would accuracy be give or take 1/2 inch ? I have bought loads of digital calipers and scales and never had a problem yet. I believe it stated accuracy as being .02mm on the pack. Whaddya want for eight quid.
You can always use them as a spanner if they don't work!
Just rushed down to Aldi myself this morning for a table saw. £33 for 800 watts, 8 inch TCT blade. Instructions in good English, 3 year warranty (UK address) made in China.
I was 6th in the queue and two people in front of me each bought one!
Still, good enough for general use, checking drill bit sizes etc, where upto 0.1 doesnt matter.
Probably not much cop for machine shop tolerances though.
Unusual for cheap calipers to be stainless, normally they are plastic. Great for checking drill sizes etc and a bit of rough machine work etc, and at that price no worries when you break them
The problem with all calipers is that the battery is constantly on, this is why you can move the scale with the display off but switch it on and still get an accurate reading. Best to take out the battery if you aren't going to use them for a while.
