I have a project in mind to construct a heavy duty sectional door to a barn. I envisage making a track out of 50 x 25 x 3mm hollow section by cutting out a 25mm strip from one side. I have had a browse around this forum and others and am considering an R-Tech P30c or an IFL I-Tech Cut 40 - both look like reasonable quality machines for this work and well able to cope with 3mm steel. My questions are:-
1) Is there any difficulty cutting into hollow section? Does the slag build up unacceptably in the section?
2) Do you guys think I am looking at decent machines for this purpose? - I will need to cut a total distance of circa 20 metres of material twice to produce the slot in the track.
3) Would I need a vast amount of consumables)
Time is not important and I believe when it comes to tools never a borrower or a lender be - buy the tool for the job then keep it - you have it for he next project.
Any help greatly appreciated
