First off, I've never welded in my life, and I intend to get someone to do this for me. I don't think it's a suitable first project.
I have a basic 3' by 4' trailer. 30mm by 30mm by 3mm angle iron.
It's too big. It needs to be about 20cm narrower, to legally be towed behind a motorbike. And maybe a touch shorter at the back, to make sure the weight is in front of the wheels.
What's the best way of doing this? Cutting a side off, cutting the crosspieces to the new length and welding back the side? Can the axle be cut down in this way?
I assume that the triangle would have to be removed and redone to deal with the new geometry.
