I’ve got a project coming up where I need to mark screw holes close to the edge of some sheet material. Gonna build some speaker boxes for a bit of a home sound system.
So I made a marking gauge that holds s pencil. Round bar is 14mm diameter aluminium and the big round disc was a square hot block I salvaged from some stuff thrown away at work.
Drilled bar for the pencil and made the little brass screw to hold it in. Turned it down for 5mm threads and knurled it
The guide was square. Drilled a 10mm hole bolted it up to some studding, cut off the corners and then rounded it off as much as I could with a file. Then spun it up in the lathe. Bored a hole for the bar. Top screw was one I had in my stock, think it was grandads as it was an odd imperial size. Machined it up for 6mm threads. Knurling was already there. Drilled and tapped a hole et voila
I’m quite pleased with myself
