Thankfully I've only attached a small amount of feather edge to the shed. Just about to apply some more but wasn't too pleased when I found this had occurred...
The "cupping" of the boards is worse in the flesh than the photos
The boarding was wet upon pre drilling it then fixing it on. I made sure I left the screws loose so that expansion/contraction could occur.
From a little research it would seem this has happened due to the recent unusual hot weather and the boards drying out too fast. Perhaps if they'd slowly dried they wouldn't have cupped?
I appreciate according this info https://www.vastern.co.uk/cladding/feather-edge-cladding/ the boarding should have been fixed a month or so back, sadly that wasn't an option.
Obviously I want to avoid repeating this. I wondered if I was to pre drill the bottom halves and place an extra screw to hold the board flat against the one its lapped on to? However, I am aware that doing this might result in the boards splitting?
The other option is to go without using an extra screw on boards that have dried out completely, these aren't warped or cupped. What worries me is that is that they will cup when fixed in place.
Any ideas?
Thanks
