I have a SIP 195 Amp welder I have never been happy with the large jump in current between the settings, would it be possible to convert it to a rotary control?
SIP seem to have done something back-to-front on these machines! Unless the wirespeed jumps up with each "current" step, and the wirespeed knob is just fine-tuning? Some machines are built this way.I have a SIP 195 Amp welder I have never been happy with the large jump in current between the settings, would it be possible to convert it to a rotary control?
Sorry but this isn't correctI think that the specs for your machine are that it has 6 settings, from 25 to 195 Amps, controlled by a 6-way rotary switch. As MoreWellie has said, to get infinitely variable power control over the full range by a potentiometer, you would need to swap from a step-switched transformer MIG welder to a modern inverter
