Hello folks,
Been keeping an eye on this website for a while, very interesting, although I've never had the time to actually say hello. So, "hello". Here are the basics:
Based in southern Brittany now, started off restoring old lorries (hence the Commer), moved onto old 4x4s, and currently attacking a WWII tug, (seemed like a good idea at the time).
I started to weld about three years ago when I bought a forty quid arc welder and burnt some holes in some thin sheet steel. After that it was a BOC Autolynx (Mig), had to have it craned onto the boat as its so bloody heavy, and then it packed up, great. I spent the last two weeks before crimbo welding some 20 x 20 (cm) RSJ's into place using an Oxford 180 Arc, bloody great. I also have the joy of playing with an ESAB PCM 875 (plasma) cuts up to 30mm and after that its the oxy-propane.
I'm currently back in Wales waiting for my missus to pod, and looking for a big heavy duty mig to take home as tools in France are either cheap and crap or good and expensive, needless to say secondhand.
Interesting to see some other bods with boats, boats as someone said to me the other day are a glorious waste of time and money.
Anyway probably bored you all to sleep, top website, not enough birds in overalls though.
Keep it up, Mat.
