No, that setting is for thin stuff not thick stuff like what you're practicing on!
Flip all 3 of those switches down and try again.
Low power for thin stuff, high power for thick stuff...easy as that.
You'll need to up the wire speed accordingly too.
No. You need about 5LPM at the very min and that's welding on a bench inside with a small shroud and with very clean steel and you know what you are doing. You really need 8-10LPM. The disposable bottles are a real rip-off and not worth buying unless you have one small patch to do on a car say. The absolute cheapest way is to use a C02 fire extinguisher upside down with a C02 regulator. The reason you use it upside down is to get around the problem of the dip tube which releases the un evaporated C02 when you open the valve.
Hey, as most people said rule of thumb make sure you have good heat and adjust your wire feed accordingly. Practice on the same gauge material you intend to weld on so any Cockups can be adjusted before the money shot. I use airproducts argon mixed and for a big bottle works out at £85.00. With practice you will be able to tell by the sound if you are on the right track. (like bacon frying) without the smell. Hope this helps
