Hi, I'm new to this forum, so hello!!
I'm looking to purchase my first MIG. Initially it's for doing some bodywork on a project car but I'd like to think I'd still be messing with the welder in the future (you never know them rod projects in my head may come to fruition one day!!) so looking to get a fairly deceant one first time instead of having to upgrade in a few years. I've watched the old spending this month and I've got a budget of around £200.
Was thinking of around a 130a but looking at prices it'd seem silly to not splash the extra few ££ and go for a 150a. Was looking at the 135/151 TE Clarke models as I've read that gas is the way to go. However after talking to an experienced welder today he suggested I go for a dual gas/gasless machine, I will be working in my backyard which at times can get wind swirling around it, so maybe the gasless capability for emergency could be an advantage?? This leads me to think the 130/151 EN model may be the one for choice??
Should I go for the dual purpose??
Will a 150 still be useable on car bodywork (not too powerful)??
Wheres the best/cheapest place for Clarke??
Does anyone recommend any other welders around that price point??
Cheers!!
