I've a 30 year old Clark turbo stick welder . I want to convert it so that theh earth & live cables can be disconnected rather than coiled round the casing . I fitted it up with 200 amp commercial cables & an industrial proper rod holder 25 years ago .
i now have an ideal opportunity to do this as I am stripping down an ancient Turbomaster 600 battery charger /booster start machine that's been left outside in all weather for the last four years . The sockets for the 12 or 24 volt lead out appear in good condition fortunately .
They take what looks like a 10 mm dia twist to lock plug on the end of the heavy current cable . I don't remember what these welding plugs & sockets are called but they were industry standard in industrial stick welders in the 1980's & 90's but the commercial stuff was around 15 mm in dia on the brass and total length inc the rubber shroud for the plug about four inches long .
.
Can anyone tell me the names of these sort of plugs please ?
I want to see If I can turn up a like for like spec plug in brass and insert the locking peg at the correct depth rather than spend the dosh as they used to be around £ 40 each for a each set of a single plug & socket for the big ones back in the 1990's .
I hope to make the shrouds for the plugs on my lathe using some of my stash of Delrin .
