I have a 151te that I have been very happy with up to about 3mm. Sometimes I need to do odd bits of 4 to 6mm and I have not been happy with weld penetration even after V preparation etc.
Most of what I do is car repairs so I don't do the thicker stuff very often
I have been offered an old Supermig 195 for £150 but looking at the duty cycles am not sure that it will do much better.
I have no experience of stick welding but do you think I would be better off getting a stick welder and practising, get the supermig or go for something else. I have a 16amp supply at the moment but could get a 32 if necessary
What amp stick welder would I need for 6mm?
Thank you for your thoughts
