Hello
We had some huge storms recently and my house was struck by lightning. Luckily we suffered little damage (our neighbours lost a hell of a lot of electrical items) apart from lots of lighting linked to my garage. I had left the welder plugged in which I never do. After the storm I checked it and it turned on so I thought all was ok, however when I tried to use it I have found that the torch is now permanently live. The gas flows and the wire spools out when the trigger is pressed but it remains live even after trigger release. Had a quick look in the gun and nothing obvious there. Also the wire spool speed adjustment is on pretty much maximum and the knob doesnt reduce it so makes any decent welding impossible.
Any ideas if this could be fixable? Its about 8 or 9 years old but not had a hard life. If I have to replace it locally (currently in France) I am looking at GYS welders but it'll be about 500 euros so would like to try and fix it!
Thanks in advance
