Would appreciate an enlightened soul to help me if possible.Picked this up recently with some other garage equipment and although everything I bought appears fine I've not had anything to do with plasma cutters(have posted another thread about consumables for it).Anyway just got around to firing it up.At first all I was getting was the fan and transformer noise,no relays or any sparking etc on sheetmetal.Cleaned up all the terminals etc inside the unit and played with the air pressure and then it started to make what I think are the right sounds. Its a scratch start machine and the manual says you touch the torch to the job, pull the trigger then lift off slightly(there is a small spring resistance felt when pushing the torch to the steel).Anyway I managed to get showers of sparks and the welder type sounds from the transformers but nothing like a cut.Tried on both power settings and different air pressures. When I looked at the torch the shroud was very hot and disassembly produced what you see in the pics(the electrode and nozzle although probably worn were very clean as I had cleaned everything up beforehand. The torch has a small bolt through the head end but after removing it I can't see how it comes apart, its not spilt down its length how do you get it apart?Although it will all probably clean up again I really need to know whats caused this to happen and if anyone has any suggestions(apart from throwing it)to get me up and running?
