Hey guys, any recommendations for parts suppliers been using Euros for years but they are really expensive now.
Don't they ask for proof? If you quote taxi account to the guy at the counter as he raises the invoice you will automatically get trade prices (not to be confused with the laughable discount codes). Just saying.

I don't agree. I find local motor factors really helpful, good price, good knowledge and change parts with no issue.Autodoc if you are not in a hurry
Car parts in Motion via ebay or direct, for almost everything else.
I don't bother with local factors any more unless I am desperate. Can we have the reg number and VIN ? Still give the wrong parts, and don't like it when you take them back. At your own expense.
Finding one is the hard part these days. Euro and the like have forced all those little places full of more treasure than Aladdins Cave out of business. Gone are the days where you pop in needing a rotor arm for x and the guy behind the counter has it in a box because it fits seven different vauxhall models that he knows off the top of his head.I don't agree. I find local motor factors really helpful, good price, good knowledge and change parts with no issue.
Around here they seem to have got worse...or their look-up data has - recent cock-ups:I don't agree. I find local motor factors really helpful, good price, good knowledge and change parts with no issue.
While I agree that to some degree that its not their fault, that is not really your problem when you have a vehicle that is off the road and needs fixing ASAP. Then there is the running back and forth, trying to sort it out, which costs YOU, the customer, time and money, for which you are not compensated. All you get is an insincere "sorry about that". After which he will go back to his coffee and Daily Sport.GSF in Gloucester/Cheltenham have always been good in my experience, they've never quibbled about taking wrong parts back. Prices are often better than ECP etc. Plus they'll let you compare the old part with the new one on the spot.
The only grief I ever had was it took three attempts to find the right battery for my mate's Sportage, in the end I figured out the Yuasa part number from their PDF catalogue and they ordered one in for me. It wasn't really their fault, all the parts databases, including the ones ECP etc use, had the same mistake.
