Where the paint rubs off is where its constantly rubbing against other parts anyway, so zinc plating will wear off too.
Yep he don’t mind about that part it’s the rest of it. What I was getting more at, is if I have it zinc plated will the bar ‘weld’ itself to the hinges? Since they are quite a tight fit.
The way I’ve needed to make these, there’s no option to disassemble. Unless I made the hinges like conrod ends, in two halves.
They’re a bloody snug fit. 20mm bar, 20mm holes (came slightly oversized using 20mm rotabroach / annular cutter).
He will have to just have it painted.

Just a thought, my Father made hinges for our garage doors and in true engineering fashion made them close tolerance. I wanted to reuse them but never did manage to free them off properly from the corrosion.
