Hi all,
The gearbox went bang on my Skoda, so while I gather up the pieces to rebuild that, I brought a cheap C2 to use in the mean time. It runs okay for the most part, but has a very lumpy, erratic idle, and often lurches / stumbles a bit when pulling away from a standstill, and a few other potential issues. I'm used to working on the 2CV which hardly has any electrics to speak of, or the 02 Fabia which has only slightly more and I've never needed to touch them, so I'm feeling slightly out of touch with modern vehicles at the moment. I brought a lexia clone VCI thing from ebay which seems to do the job. The only codes it has logged are:
I saw a big crack in the coil pack casing, so swapped that out along with new plugs, which had no noticable effect. I'm now wondering about the lambda sensors, or injectors, or throttle body, but I don't want to start just replacing parts willy-nilly. Can anyone suggest how I might go about actually diagnosing this, narrowing down the potential culprits? I can see the sensor values and timing and so on, but having never owned a vehicle with a lambda sensor before, for example, I have no idea what is normal behaviour for them. Any places to go to read up on all this sort of stuff? Is there a better explaination of fault codes anywhere? "controlled alternator control" isn't very descriptive, and a quick google only brings up someone else asking what it means, with no real resolution. I somehow thought there would be far more information easily available online, but maybe I'm just looking in the wrong places.
Any pointers appreciated!
Thanks,
George
