To create a sloping roof, I cut one piece of wood 300mm high, and the other piece 250 high. The top of each piece was cut at 30 degrees.
When I put a board acoss the top of these pieces, the angles didn't line up. I then worked out that they would only line up if the one at 300mm was shortened to 284mm, see photo, with ruler across.
My question: Is there a formula to work out the length of timber versus the angle, in this sort of scenario? These were only small pieces, but if they were joists for example there would be more waste from my errors.
