My Startrite pillar drill has no easy way of releasing the belt tension to change speeds - you have to undo 4 bolts and slide it forwards and then slide it back again. However I generally just run the belt relatively loosely, and then force it across to the next smaller puller by hand.
I think I can modify the drill to use some sort of lever with a cam on it so that I can use this to fully tension the belt, but can anyone think of an off the shelf item that I could use?
Cheers
Paul
