hi all
So I’ve been asked to make a material rack by a customer of mine but I’m unsure how to calculate the material size. It’ll be fixed to a solid brick wall pillars with 300mm long arms coming out (will be gusseted) and there’ll be 3 of them to support 6mtr lengths.
He’s wanting to store 40mm Ali angle and I’ve worked out that each length is around 2.5kg each.
each arm will need to accommodate 300 lengths so 750kg each tier spread between 3 supports and there’ll be 3 tiers in total so a load of around 750kg on each upright
So based on this is there a calculation for working out material size? I have originally thought to use 100x100x5mm SHS
Cheers all
