Greetings all. I wonder if someone could advise me on brazing/soldering of these items. They are rapier guides from my weaving loom. They are either brass or phosphor bronze...(not sure how to tell the difference.) They tend to wear on one particular place and it seems that`s they way they are designed. A drive belt moves back and forth in the slot and one of them has to be ` sacrificial`. Whilst both the belt and guide wear , the guides are designed to take the brunt. There are 40 of them which need replaced a couple of times a year. As the sole distributor has been increasing the price relentlessly..this is now costing a small fortune. I have been successfully building up the wear area with standard solder. You can see in one foto, I simply solder up the slot then use a dremel grinding wheel to open up a new guide slot of proper( similar) dimensions. It works fine but they wear a lot quicker. I expected this and am not complaining. However, I wonder if there is some way a hobbyist could braze these up in a similar fashion to what I have been doing with solder?
