Hi all,
I've got a motorcycle petrol tank that I'd like to make some modifications to. I'm planning to cut out and replace the existing neck and also add new bungs for threaded petrol taps. I should emphasise at this point that the tank has been full of water/caustic soda for the last three weeks to remove the rust by electrolysis. It's therefore very clean inside and won't (hopefully) explode when being worked on.
I'm a reasonable mig welder but I'm concerned that if I try to mig it I'll just end up blowing holes through it. I've not brazed before but feel like it could be a better solution. I've got access to a oxy-propane setup and plenty of time to practice.
So my questions are...
1. What's the best technique for achieving what I've described above?
2. If it's brazing, what rods/tips should be used?
3. Can anyone point me in the direction of a good tutorial.
Thanks in advance.
Zach
