For some reason my tailstock has just jammed/got extremely tight on by AUD. I managed to strip it down and the brass? nut in the tailstock sleeve binds on the threaded section on the hand wheel. I don't really know how this has happened as I've been using it on and off for the past year or so. I've quickly checked the threaded section for straightness and can't see that it is bent so my next port of call is to buy a tap and just run it down the nut.
Anyone know what thread it is? It appears to be 1/2" major diameter and is a LH thread. I can count the TPI but I just wanted to know if it was UNC/F or some other strange thread before I go and buy the wrong tap for it.
Anyone got any ideas as to how this could have happened as well? I was drilling out an 8mm hole to 12mm in a 35mm long section of mild steel at the time.
