box and pan folder plans

I came across these plans in the course of my daily rummagings. This folder was designed by an aussie bloke and he was happy to share the design openly on the web. Any problems please tell me and i'll ask a mod to help with the pdf.

What do you think of the pan brake ? Worth bothering with ? I always found the fullsized ones useful and a small version to have at home would be an asset.

My thoughts too, I tried to get some stuff bent / folded a few months back in my "second" home and they'd only do aluminium. I was trying to get some steel bent for my tool box / work bench, which is still waiting to be done.

I don't know if that was a question open to all or directed at anyone in particular but I personally think its light years better designed than the ones you buy for home and small shop use. Mainly that's because its too darn expensive to produce commercially and still offer it at a price that people might buy it at. Perhaps this is why he aint being sniffy about offering his plans up.
Useful for so many jobs, you can always send the bigger stuff out, I just said it in another thread but handling big sheets alone is difficult and can prove dangerous as the edges can cut deep if you slip. Aligning the bend line and clamping down without loosing it after putting in a big wobbly sheet alone aint the easiest thing in a box pan as you often end up with a big load of it in your way.
I aint kidding on the safety front either seen plenty of injuries two of which were bad when people tried to work on folding bigger sheet alone

I could fancy one of the folders.

Would it be worth looking at a group buy on the plate stuff pre-cut/milled? Batches are always going to work out cheaper than one-offs if you don't know someone with the capability that will do it for beer.

I think I've posted it before, there's not as much clear information, but one feature I like is that most of it is made from one length of 3/8" x 6" bar (10mm x 150mm to us Europeans)

Having said that I think there are preferable features In both designs

No, the machine just wouldn't bend 1.5mm steel, they were fabricating aluminium gutters and similar things out of 0.5 sheet. It was (should say they as I tried a number of shops) a full size machine, hand operated.

I eventually found a place, but the job got cocked up and as a consequence, isn't finished. Might have a go at building one. The one in Ronans' message would be more than adequate for my needs.

0.5mm ali that will bend if you give it a hard stare

Anyone have any similar plans for other homemade tooling like english wheels, planishing hammers, machining accessories etc ?
