About a year and half ago i was asked about making a giant owl sculpture based on a company logo.
I made a small wire model.
The one on the right is close to the logo, the left one is what i suggested.
Customer grabbed one and said YES!
Off to planning for decisions.
no news for ages so I asked if she minded me making a family of them for sale.
She had no problems with that.
She liked them and they all sold over the last twelve months. I figured it was polite to ask her before making them as they were my response to her idea.
Anyway, I was doing ok.
Last week I got the go ahead to make the large one.
3m tall in 20mm solid bar.
Bloody murder rolling the curves, but to my surprise they all came out bang on, I was expecting a lot of problems.
But no all looking good.
Then to stand the damn thing up and weld on the wings. Again much less hassle than I expected.
Chuffed to bits. In fact amazed.
I was expecting hassles relating to just scaling things up, but no nice and stable.
I just need to weld on the fixing points and get it galved.
But I am still stiff and achey all over even three days later.
Anybody fancy an arm wrestle?
