I was reading a motor magazine recently and it had a feature about a body shop restoring a classic car. Presumably they know what they're doing. It said they started off with epoxy primer on the bare metal. This sounds good to me, as mentioned on another recent thread. Then they applied 2 pack primer followed by a red oxide coat which I think they said included a matt stabiliser. What is that?! Then the colour.
Why use red oxide two or more layers above the bare metal? I thought the only point of red oxide was to help guard against rust.
Do you know of any better build up, after the epoxy primer. What do you use?
