I have been up at my step brothers place welding up 80mm x 80mm x 6mm box all week making trolleys and lifting cradles to carry/lift boats while they are being fitted out. Step brothers son has started to do a bit of stick welding and has a GYSMI 160P so I didn't bother taking my Chinese inverter and instead used the GYS. Very impressed with it, took a wee while getting used to the current as it seemed to be a bit high compared to my inverter but it worked away well and had a nice stable arc.
It is tiny and I was surprised at the duty cycle it has, granted it is at 20 degrees rather than 40 but 20 degrees is a miracle in the summer here never mind the winter.
Couple of things I am not too keen on with it, doesn't have an on/off switch as such, you have to turn the pot down to switch off or just unplug and the current adjustment seemed hard at first to get just right, slight turn and it was too high, turn back and it was too low. Once I got used to it though I could dial it in pretty good for the different currents required.
My Inverter has done me proud and I love the wee thing but I have had it at least 8 years I would think and the thing is starting to fall apart, still welds great though. Think however I will have to be getting another one soon and I think it will likely be the GYS I will get if I can get a decent price on it
