I can't believe it took until 2008, for the Americans to realise, the dangers of dust explosions. They've been happening in industry ever since the cotton mills, I believe some of the worst explosions ever were in Cotton mills, centuries ago
They started happening in flour mills before that.
I had a brilliant science teacher at primary school, one of his experiments was to part fill a rubber bulb with flour connect a tube to it which ran under a large coffee tin, he lit a candle put it under the tin and puffed some flour and the resulting bang would be quite spectacular , that would have been 40 odd years ago bet they don't show kids stuff like that any more
