Feel this is a bit of a confession coming on.
Offered to make half a dozen small top hats for someone in brass. 20mm od with reduced diameter of 16mm, bored through 10mm. Nothing exciting and should take 10 minutes....
Took me an hour as I could not get my head around eliminating the small amount of backlash in my viceroy lathe.
I know to always rotate the handles in the same direction after zeroing datum but what happens when you have to take another cut. Got around it by contantly stopping and measuring but got to be a quicker way.
Think I am too used to using lathes with dro.
What does everyone do to elimibate the effect of backlash in all lathes?
