I am looking to buy my first MIG setup.
I am mainly going to be using it on Chopping bikes and fabbing space frame car chassis. So I am looking in or around the 160-180 range gas mig.
Ideally I am not going to spend much more than £300-350.
I was fairly certain I was going to get a Sealey Supermig 180 from migtigarc.com but the reviews on the 180 are not great! Generally suggesting cheap flimsy chinese build quality.
Would I be better off buying something used? I turned down the chance for a Sureweld 101 Monomig for peanuts but now I wonder if old is not necessarily worse.
I was looking at the Supermig 180 because it had adjustable (dialled) ampage... how important is that? A lot of other welders in my price range are preset 3 or 5 settings is that sufficient for my needs.
Would be grateful if anyone can recommend a well made, good quality welder in my price range that will suit my needs.
Thanks in advance, P.S. Love this forum!!
