Not magnetic.
Yeah, that's why I said same at both ends.
There are no markings on them but I've never done brazing so wouldn't know a brazing rod if someone jabbed it in my eye.
The wife thought they were welding electrodes. I mentioned I had to grab a few dissimilar rods for a new job at work so "helped" by ordering some of eBay. She says they definitely said welding.
She doesn't really know, just nods now and again as I waffle.
I'm actually quite interested in having a go of brazing now so might see if I can get a decent torch at some point.
Sadly, butane isn't really any good for brazing. Some say you can manage with propane - I just about did it once, but certainly wouldn't go anywhere near calling it usable. You really seem to need the extra heat and concentrated flame of oxy fuel to be much use.
Brazing is simply fantastic for some jobs - small items, delicate work, thin metal, high carbon & dissimilar steel, parts which can't take the heat of a weld and so on.
Yep, it can be handy!
Just thinking laterally but if you have one it may be possible to use a TIG torch to braze, just using the arc to provide the heat, I bet it is difficult though.
