I need some help... after years and years of just mig and tig, i have decided to learn the dark art of stick... sadly im too poor to put myself through a college course, and work won't either, so i took it upon myself to learn...
Using an "acquired" Kemppi minarc and some Aldi electrodes, i had a go at laying down some welds on a piece of plate... here are the results...
Due to me being a complete newb, i have a few questions...
WHen i finish the run, why does it always blow an egg shaped crater in it, is this something to do with the angle, because i always pause for a split second at the end to try and fill it in, but it always does that...
What does the bluey-red surface colour mean?
Is that level of spatter normal with arc, or is it just the crappy plate / sticks...
I also had a go at a T fillet, sorry about the photography skills
Attempted a stop start about half way through, bu ti think i changed my angle too steeply...
Any advice / criticism would be appreciated thanks
