Joined the site a few weeks ago, lurked for a while, and then decided to post before making any introductions. (how rude)
Dad was a pipefitter welder, a genius with the oxy/acetylene. Worked with him at nights, weekends, and school hols. Left school & went working with him full time. Dad died from the big "C". Didn't want to do pipefitting anymore.
Went into engineering (pipe bender),did that for a couple of years till a colleague had his head smashed in by a sched 40 coil coming off the mandrel not 6 feet away from me. He was in a coma for 6 months. I was seeking pastures new.
Twenty five years later, people have stopped dying & getting twa**ed when near me, so I thought it's probably ok to start tinkering again.
Hence the prodigal son moniker.
