I doubt one part is worth the setup time unless you want to pay over £100 for your part.Anyone with a CNC lathe?
I do know someone with a home converted CNC lathe in Essex. Can't speak for him though.I doubt one part is worth the setup time unless you want to pay over £100 for your part.
It starts at 12mm and tapers to a point - doesn't really matter the thickness at the end but FYI it is currently 5mm. The larger part at the bottom of the taper (which fits inside the tube) is the same diameter as the tubes I use which is 1" ID or 25mm.So the total part is 8" with a 5.51" taper. What is the diameter at the larger end of the taper and the diameter of the parallel stub?
I will see if it will fit on my lathe tomorrow.
I hear you mate - I was working all day yesterday and today feel it! I can give you a call next week if that is alright?I doubt one part is worth the setup time unless you want to pay over £100 for your part.
My top slide only has 4 3/4" of travel so I am out sorry
Well there is more to it, my lathe belt broke while trying to do this today! I have ordered new clips but I expect by the time I have fixed it Brad will have sorted it for himI am not sure why you are worrying about the length of your travel. Do as much as you can with what you have, reposition the saddle, blue up part of it that is finished, touch off on that and carry on cutting. Blend any residual marks with emery paper.
If you wanted to get really complicated, you can work out the cross-slide infeed for any particular saddle movement (e.g. if it was 45 degrees you were cutting, if you move the saddle 1" towards the tailstock, you need to move the cross slide in 1").
