Anyone looking for laser/waterjet cutting?

Firstly, I'm not connected in any way with this company, just a very satisfied customer.

Recently I sent out quote requests to 5 different laser cutting companies. Of them only 3 bothered to reply. The 1st reply was received within 24 hours and was from graillaser.co.uk the other replies came back over the following few days. Not only were grail laser the first to reply they were also the cheapest quote and had the lowest minimum charge(£25 + VAT + P&P) I placed my order on a Thursday and received my parts on the Monday. All were perfect. I am one very satisfied customer :-)

Im looking to get some stainless exhaust flanges cut, along with some other bits and bobs.

Always found it hard to get a quote for the work, and ended up going through a mate on another forum.

Will give these guys a try, and see if they are competitive or not for me! Cheers!

I'm really lucky, we have both laser and water jet facilities in the company.
A bottle of Himbeergeist gets most small jobs done.

thats great to find a decent company willing to do bespoke work cheaply and efficiently, and close to me, how did you send the pics/diagrams of what you wanted???? were they sketches or proper drawings or cad

Thanks, We get quite a few one offs cut and are normally hit with a £50 minimum, ill give them a try

Hi Nik,

On my first contact with them I just explained what it was I wanted, they were only simple things like round discs and ellipses cut from 2mm plate. I did want something else priced up and I sent them an AutoCAD file both in dwg and dxf format. I think they will work from drawings and sketches but that may add to the cost because they would have to transfer it to a file format compatible with their equipment. They are very helpful.

Go and see Mike at Jetcut in Hillington. He does small batches for cash.
I give him drawings as I can't suss out my cheapo cad prgramme to do dxf files.

Well that does surprise me.... My order was only for £42, so I doubt it is your order size that is the issue.

Finally got round to sending out an enquiry and i was very impressed with the costs!

Previous supplier: £144
Grail Laser £70


Both are inclusive of VAT and postage to Glasgow! Very happy, so big thanks to the original posted for sharing them!!

Oh and i had a quote back with me in under an hour!!

I'd phone them and let them know. There are such things as ocassional slip ups even in good firms.

I emailed them. I hate enquiry pages, and if i dont find an email on the website, it puts me off the company.

No reply from Jetcut, again they are ones that insist on the daft enquiry page.

As I said before, I take my drawings in directly to Mike at Jetcut.
If you are Glasgow based it's a no-brainer.

I called Grail today and spoke to Andy P. I had a quote emailed to me by the end of the day. I'll probably place the order tomorrow.

Digging up an old thread, but another vote for Grail from me. Even with a delivery charge they worked out cheaper than all the local laser cutting companies.

I really like their quote system as well, as you get a little image outline of each part which makes it much easier to read when you're ordering lots of bits

Microkerf are also worth a look. Same software as Grail. Once you've put a few jobs their way they they will open the online ordering system to you. It's superb.

I use Aquacut in Northfleet. Think I paid £50 for these parts inc materials. Was cheaper than the local laser people.

I've had some stuff cut by them too. I sent them some dwg's and got my parts cut for a good price, no problem there but a while later when I lost all my files in a hdd crash I asked if they could do me a favour and email me my drawings back so I still had them they wanted 'a drink' for doing it so stuff 'em I'll never use them again nor recommend them to anyone.
