Anyone know anything about grass/new turf

Had the front lawn re turfed at the start of April and it's been lovely snd green up until the last few weeks, it's not started to go brown and patchy. I had been watering every evening, up until recently when it's been raining heavily most day for weeks.

I didnt cut it for the first 3 weeks then been doing it most weekends on a high setting.

I'm absolutely terrible with gardening etc, I'm sure someone on here will know

Watering or making it damp? Better to really soak it once a week than underwater it daily

Wouldn't worry about it. Grass is resilient stuff. It'll likely sort itself.

We had some similar issues with some sod that we laid some years ago, which (in our case) was apparently due to the underlying soil being too firmly compacted (and a bit uneven in spots), allowing some of the roots to float over small gaps between the sod and the moist soil, rather than come in direct contact with the soil. The dead spots eventually filled in after a while, so it wasn't a permanent problem. Here are a few links to check out:

Peel a bit back and see if the roots have taken, if the roots have left the turf mat it’s probably just needing water. If they haven’t speak to @123hotchef .

We has the same problem, earlier advice is the solution far better to over water than under soak, put the sprinkler on it and leave it for an hour before moving it and do that a couple or three times a week.
even on compacted soil the roots will eventually find their way in so long as you give it enough water to keep it alive until they do.

Spike it with a garden fork so that the water can get through the turf and into the soil.

I'm not sure that's right. Weeds are much more resilient than grass and anywhere the grass is weak the weeds or moss will find a way in and then that's long term trouble.

My understanding is that grass should be watered infrequently, but then watered well. If you put out something like a soup bowl to catch how much a sprinkler has put down, you'll be surprised how long it takes to put down a one inch depth.
