got an old motorbike fuel tank I’m looking to get to a useable state. It’s full of solidified ancient fuel varnish that might have even been covered with some kind of tank sealer.
Have tried various methods with solvents to no avail, have rattled bits and bolts around in it and even taken it to a radiator repair shop who weren’t able to help.
Plan B is to cut the bottom out and manually clean it and then weld the bottom back on. This is outside the realms of my welding ability so looking to see if there’s anyone localish to me that could help in exchange for money, beer etc. The tank has spent upwards of a week full to the brim with vinegar followed by bicarbonate of soda there’s no fumes left to go bang.
I can have it all cleaned up ready to weld, literally just need someone to lay a few beads for me. If anyone is in south Somerset and feels they can help then please get in touch
