Leave it there till you find you can scrape the paint off with a bit of wood and then leave it a further 12 hrs so that any thick paint in nooks & crannies gets softened.
Hi,
interesting, thanks. Approximately how long does this take overall please? Hours or days?
Regards
Peter
rainwater is best diverted and piped after the tank just the foulwater from bog is best with no disinfectants in it. look up clargester info sheet all the patter thereNot being nasty of facetious but it is a suck it and see situation different pains and various numbers of coats make for differing times .. try and scrape the paint with a pointed stick after it has soaked for 24 hrs , then if no good do it in increments of 24 till you get some joy then leave it another 24 to make sure you get the crevices softened.
You could also make the solution stronger and carefully pour a bit of boiling water in to warm things up but do be careful caustic burns just as good as acid.
The post about caustic affecting the septic tank it did not affect our system .. ours was a large concrete block double chamber job 8 foot by 15 foot and 8 foot deep ..it did not affect our tank at all... the tank also had rainwater discharge into it and then the overflow out in a 12" glazed pipe to a massive soak away . Perhaps this is why we did not notice any probs.
Even if you did get a stop or slowing of bacterial breakdown it will soon reactivate due to the new waste and new waste water arriving down the tubes dilutin
g and re infecting the tank it will not remain sterile .
