Hi all, now I get this is probably asked a million times but can anyone recommend a reasonable setup for a tig noob. Got stick experience but want to get onto something more refined. Mostly been rough and ready steel repairs on boats with stick but want to have a go at being able to make/repair some things that don't need a gallon of paint and a few grinding discs to make look passable.
Watched far too many youtube videos now and every one I see shows a new feature and another £200 on the price. What I don't want to do is buy so cheap that it's horrible to learn with. I want something that's going to make the experience enjoyable but doesn't mean selling a kidney.
Where is money best spent to achieve this?
As for budget a grand would be pushing it so as far under that as possible without going too cheap and nasty.
Are s/h machines a bit risky?
Not too bothered about AC to start. Would rather a nicer DC to help me learn.
So there, a nice easy challenge..
