hi all just joined the forum thought it was about time , i own a fair few VW so am sure i will spend many hours on the forum .
just got another project total of 5 now including my newist purchase a old vw window split bay in need of resoration .
but have to finish my first project that started last year so can get some room in my workshop to work on getting the splitty ready for next summer .
my welding skills are very limted and never taken much notice in it up untill recently when moved to a small village to find out there aint a welder within half hour drive that dont want to pull my pants down .
always wanted to learn how to weld and had a quick go with a arc welder but it kept sticking to what i was trying to weld , probaly me with crap tools and not knowing how to go about using them but just stuck it on full and went for it
i plan to start with the replacment of 2 front wings that are spot welded on my prodject but need replacing due to rust then move myself onto the back 2 wings which am unsure how to go about it .
i have purchased the 4 new wings from vw just need to get around to fitting them , with some pointers would be nice or advice .
whats the best kind of welder for this job and is it just a case of spot welding the rears on also , there been fitted to a vw multivan.
many thanks and sorry about poor spelling
ps if anyone knows anyone local who does mobile welding close to notts sheffield area would be great who wont pull my pants down over price .
