Hi all,
Looking to get a MIG. I have been using the work's one for a while, its a sip migmate 190T running pub co2. I know all about the wire feed, with the help of this forum, i've tuned and tweaked it a bit and it did improve.
I now need to get one for home. I do ornate ironwork, basket brackets, scroll panels etc as well as other general engineering (no car panels). Its mostly very short welds to join bits of 2-3mm black steel together.
I am currently at the level where i feel most of my weld faults are caused by the crap wire feeder, i can do a nice long run but cant get a consistent sizzle going with the arc as the feed is always varying, its not just me blaming the equipment, it really is crap, you can hear the motor speeding up and slowing down as you weld!
So, the question is this...
On a limited budget(of course), what welder will last a good while, give good welds, and be good enough that it exceeds my skill level i.e. its not the machine that is holding me back??
Also, i read that argon/co2 will be best but how do i get it without an account? The little bottels are a waste of space and money in my opinion.
Thanks in advance
Dave
