Sorry for the duplication, I was told off by David2015 for trying to join in on the last thread on this subject.
This was my original post.
I was also looking at GYS, but there's a thread on here somewhere slating them for failing apart in no time and not being repaired under warranty. I was going to start a new thread but might as well piggyback this one.
I'm in the same position (no mini though) and want to be able to fabricate some lightweight railings and gates, security grills and do some repairs on an old van I'll be doing up.
I have a Machinemart VAT free thingy live until tomorrow so Clarke was my first choice, however after days absorbing the wisdom of this forum as a lurker I'm now upping my game:
Shortlist is:
Tec-Arc
Portamig
Oxford (perhaps favourite)
Clarke
Sealey Supermig
GYS 162
Or for the fancy schnancy Inverter things:
R-Tech 180/250
Jasic 160 multi-jobby (MIG/MMA etc)
Esab Origo or Caddy
And wildcards are the highly praised Thermal Arc 181i Fabricator
Or.. The dreaded SIP Autoplus 181DP which I like because DP is funny.
Please advise me on the merits of any of these. I WANT a rugged transformer jobbie but the weight would be a total pain the **** I fear.
