I bought a new cup brush yesterday for use on the small angle grinder. (see pic). I wish I had got a smaller one as it feels like a house brick whizzing round on the end of the machine. My small grinders run at 11000 RPM).One is 115mm and the other is 125mm The max speed this brush should be used at is 8500 so certainly the speed of my two grinders is one problem.
The make of the brush is Silverline, and it seems quite robust-too robust in fact! (it weighs one pound) They had even larger cups in the shop. I cannot imagine what machine would be ok with these. The threads are 14mm on my grinders. So, if that is also the thread size on the larger (9”) grinders, maybe they are for these larger machine. What RPM do the 9” grinders run at? The centrifugal force seems far too great. It felt like an electric shock going through my hands and wrists with all that vibration i just could not use it. Another mistake-another lesson learnt.
