Over 20 years ago I fitted a single 5' florescent light above my main work bench & I thought it was time for an upgrade. I had some single 5' LED battens I bought from Screwfix when they were on offer & decided to fit 2 of them.
First job was to make some brackets. I wanted the light over the front edge of the bench to help avoid shadows so the brackets had to be long.
I have a steady supply of these bars that I've used for many things. They are 30x30 box 14" long & heavily galvanised. They are used to separate jet ski trailers when they are being transported all stacked up.
I've made jigs so that I can butt or tee join them.
Ready for paint!
Screwed the brackets to the wall & screwed a length of 3x2 lath to them, it came from the crates the jet skis come in!
To say the new lights have made a difference is an understatement!
Before!
And after!
