Hi all, got in from work last night and missus said that the power had gone off, she had turned the main breaker back on and it had come on and stayed on.
I had recently put a small freezer in the garage so wondered if it had tripped something so I had a look.
Turned the garage light light on, the freezer was ok, then the light went out. I went in the house and checked the consumer unit the blue breaker for the heating boiler had tripped.
I reset it and went back to the garage, there's an old consumer unit in there.
The lights had come back on and I was looking at the unit, I could see that water was dripping into the unit and the main on/off switch was sparking from inside, then there was a pop and the garage lights went out again.
The blue boiler breaker had tripped again but the main house power stayed on.
I left the blue breaker tripped and went back to the garage and took all the fuses out.
The fuse box feeds a light fitting and an led light strip which look like they're in line and two separate wall plugs.
I've attached pics of the cause of the water ingress and the fusebox.
I obviously need to stop the water getting anywhere near it,wondering firstly why the mains house breaker tripped first time but the blue breaker tripped second time, secondly should the garage be fed from a shared breaker for the boiler?
Thirdly how easy is it to replace the fusebox with a new garage consumer unit or should I just get a sparks in?
Oh and non of the wire fuses in the old box had blown..
