Hello,
We have a set of four pans from 1948 that we love - just simple pans that keep going and going, the way things are meant to be in an ideal world. Unfortunately when we moved to NZ amongst a few things that went missing one of the lids to these pans was one of them.
Now, I've tried eBay and I've tried TradeMe and I've been going round the scrapyards and the charity shops looking for a lid, but I cannot for the life of me find one. My mum is upset because they were her mum's and although we've got a lid that fits the pan, it doesn't look so nice. The make is called Pyramid Gaygrip and I assume the handles are bakelite. Here is a picture to show you the big pan. The one we are missing is the 3 1/2 Pint pan.
Sorry for the crap pics my phone broke and I have a cheapo stand in with a whopping 2mp camera...
This is the top of the lid
And this is the underside
So my question is this - can I make this myself? I do not own a press or a metal former or a torch. I don't even have any dollies or panelbeater hammers! Any help welcome. It's very thin sheet, maybe 1mm at most.
Cheers
