Hi guys,
I'm not new to this site but I am to the MIG section. I've done a lot of MIG welding in the past but only with steel. I'm also very capable with a TIG set on steel, stainless steel and aluminium.
In my current job (lorry mechanic) we do a lot of MIG welding but more recently as I'm the most experienced welder we have I've been doing more and more of it. Mostly steel but on certain applications I also have to do aluminium. Problem is I just can't seem to get it looking nice. When it comes to aluminium MIG I have to admit I'm a grinder not a welder.
One of the jobs I had to do today was repairing floor panels from an aluminium walking floor trailer. They are basically very very long aluminium floor boards which move. These boards have angled end caps on them which break off over time and need replacing. Hopefully the pictures should show enough for even a hint/pointer.
One of the big issues is that I really don't know the weldset that well at all so I'll be doing some research on that as far as settings etc go. But any advice is welcomed. My main issue I'm concerned with is the excessive sorting, admittedly it's hard to really clean the boards but is there anything else wrong?
