I agree with most of your points, but I still think most of them go with V bands because cheapness.End users probably wouldn’t like your design. Takes too long to open and close, too many parts to vibrate loose, and heavier than it needs be. Difficult / impossible to open in situ in most applications without removing the tank. Bear in mind most of these are motorsport use. Weight and speed of operation is what it’s all about. Form follows function, that’s why most have a v band strap.
Time - if you have to split a sump tank then you've already lost, so what difference does 5 mins extra to unscrew an extra 10 small screws? Weight difference is negligible because V bands have a steel band. The only benefit i can see to them is if its very tight packaging against a bulkhead where there's no room to get around it... But you can get around that with disconnecting brackets.
Ultimately I'm biased against V bands because IME they're hard enough to keep leak-tight in industrial applications, never mind motorsports. The best versions I've seen are Tri-clamp ones on food grade pipework, they have a serrated silicone gasket for sealing and work very well, because they're way overbuilt for their diameter.
