Hi all,
My mum has been up to visit us, and has fallen foul of one of norfolks famous potholes.
Unfortunately one of her front wheels has taken a right wallop.
She’s been to a local wheel place in Norwich and they’ve said the outer barrel of the wheel (split rims) is cracked through so they can’t/won’t repair it.
Unfortunately they are very rare wheels and getting hold of one (if possible) will take quite a lot of patience, and replacing with something else seems a bit tricky too.
I’ve read > > THIS << thread which explains why the wheel place won’t touch it and why there won’t be a queue of volunteers on here either!
But I’m pondering what else can be done. Does the fact that it’s a split rim make a difference?
I know they are two piece so not proper split rims but I wonder if turning it into a three piece is possible, I see you can buy barrel blanks online.
Tales of heroics and engineering insanity welcome.
I haven’t got a picture of the crack but here’s what it looked like when we put the spare on.
100 points to hufflepuff if you recognise what car it comes from!
Cheers
Martin
